Oval Willow Basket Weaving

with Karla Powell

Join us at Early Dawn Farm for our Oval Basket Weaving Workshop! You'll have the chance to create a gorgeous willow “bag” that’s perfect for those dreamy foraging walks, late morning egg-collecting, or just having a functional creation of your own to humble-brag about while you're out. ;)

Date: November 9th, 2024

Time: 10 AM - 4 PM
Cost: $98 per person

Located at Early Dawn Farm

SOLD OUT

Registration: Spaces are limited, and it is first come first served.
THIS WORKSHOP IS NON-REFUNDABLE

Materials:
We’ll be using locally sourced willow, hand-harvested to ensure quality. If you'd like to add a little flair to your creation, leather straps will be available for purchase ($15-20), or feel free to bring your own.

What To Expect:
Under the guidance of our lovely instructor, Karla Powell, you’ll learn the techniques and tricks of weaving from an oval base. Karla will direct and coach you while encouraging you to explore your own style. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy some hands-on creativity, have some laughs with neighbours and new friends, and pick up some new skills that you're free to use time and time again.

By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a unique and handy souvenir that you crafted yourself—a perfect (and functional) reminder of a day well spent!

A note from your Instructor: Karla Powell

I have been working with willow for over 20 years and get such joy from crafting these useful and beautiful baskets from locally sourced willow along the Sheep River in Southern Alberta. I'm grateful to be able to share this passion with you.
